Principle of Operation
PM-2 operating principle is based on Gold-Amalgamation / Cold
Vapor Atomic Absorption (CVAA). Air sample (either atmospheric air or soil gas)
is continuously drawn on the Mercury Collector Tube via a liquid scrubber and
dehumidifier. Amalgamated Mercury is later desorbed and measured under UV
253.7nm. All sampling settings and measurement conditions can be easily set
through the guide sequence and keypad, making the operating simpler. It is
highly sensitive capable of detecting mercury level down to 0.001ng.
PM-2 can also be adapted with a water measurement kit
where sample like rain water collected in the field can be collected and
analyzed immediately. Simple glassware setup uses stannous chloride reduction to
liberate the mercury onto the gold-amalgamation trap inside PM-2. The
amalgamated mercury is rapidly desorbed and quantified via CVAA.
PM-2 is equipped with memory for data-storage up to >300
data, which can be down-loaded onto Windows spread-sheets for further
tabulations once back to the lab or office. A fully-charged unit allows
continuous operation up to 8 hours. |
