The FPP 5Gs is the first portable
automated Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) instrument that strictly conforms
with IP, EN and JIS test methods. Fully self-contained with its own built-in
cooling system, this instrument achieves cooling temperatures down to –69°C
without any external liquid connection. The FPP 5Gs is 100% user
configurable -- vacuum profiles, cooling profiles, suction intervals, cleaning
phase as well as many other parameters may be modified on this stand alone
instrument. Advanced optics detect sample flow, eliminating the direct pipette
contact required with manual testing.
This method is
applicable to distillate fuels (including those containing flow-improving
or other additives) intended for use in diesel engines and domestic heating
installations. Obtained results aid in estimation of the lowest temperature at
which a fuel will freely flow within a fuel system.
Completely self-contained cooling system
- enables ultra-low temperature testing
- saves energy
- eliminates the heat, noise, external liquid connections and toxic coolant
vapors of external cooling units
Compact and
portable; easily moves throughout your lab to the area where needed
Stand-alone
and/or PC controlled operation
Stepped
or linear sample cooling
Tactile,
solvent proof alphanumeric keypad
50

Networked,
PC-controlled operation & data management available with ISL's ALAN® (Automatic
Laboratory Analyzer Network) system
Safe, simple operation
Simply load a 45 ml sample and press Start to begin testing. The FPP 5Gs
controls jacket cooling in 1ºC intervals, electronically adjusting vacuum to
draw test specimen up into a pipette through a mesh filter. As the fuel specimen
cools, the amount of paraffin crystals increases until the cold filter plugging
point -- the temperature at which the sample ceases to flow through the filter
within 60 seconds or fails to return into the test jar -- is reached. When
specified in the analysis preferences, the sample immediately reheats to ambient
temperature following the test, facilitating the next sample run.
The FPP 5Gs
documents results in a variety of formats: displayed on its local LCD; memorized
to local memory; printed to an external printer; or, using optional ALAN®
software, saved to a data base or transferred to a LIMS. The detection curve can
also be visualized and printed.
Computer control and data management with ALAN®
When connected to a PC with the ALAN® (Automatic Laboratory Analyzer Network)
32-bit multi-tasking software under Windows® 9x/NT, the FPP 5Gs provides
numerous advanced features:
- start
tests from a PC, choosing from an unlimited number of test programs
- save results to a database
- edit cooling profiles
- customize reporting
- automatically export data to LIMS according to a user defined protocol
- and much more... |
