/EM-4 |
To ensure the environmental and health safety of all workers
in the ambient work area, the current Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) permissible exposure limit (PEL) for mercury vapor is 0.1
milligram per cubic meter (mg/m3) of air as a ceiling limit. Therefore, a worker
exposure to mercury vapor should not exceed this ceiling level.
Similarly, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH) has also established a recommended exposure limit (REL) for
mercury vapor of 0.05mg/m3 as a time-weighed average (TWA) for up to a 10-hour
workday and a 40-hour workweek. This level The NIOSH limit is based on the risk
of central nervous system damage, eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation.
Both models of Mercury Monitors below are applicable for
determining the mercury vapor level in ambient air. |

EMP-1A |
Model EMP-1A Mercury Handheld Meter is built to provide
all operators a handy, quick and easily way to obtain an instant real-time
measurement of mercury with great precision. A reliable membrane pump draws
the air sample through its handheld probe, exposing the air stream under UV
253.7nm generated from a low-pressure long-life mercury discharge lamp. The
absorbed mercury amount is continuously quantified and display on the LCD
screen. EMP-1A has sensitivity down to 0.001mg/m3.
The unit is equipped with re-chargeable Ni-MH battery,
which enables continuous 10-hours long operation in the field or site.
Moreover, it is designed with data-logging function to allow mercury
readings recording up to 100 data. High-Alarm setting feature allows setting
of user safety threshold level for mercury detection in ambient air at their
convenience.
Each package of EMP-1A comes complete with EMP-1A
Mercury Meter, a Sampling Probe and Charger, all in a compact carrying case. |

EM-4 |
Model EM-4 Mercury Monitor (bench-top) is designed for
continuous measurement of mercury level in ambient air, typically under
enclosed environment like production floor, waste storage facility and etc.
Its operating principle is based on widely accepted continuous flow-through
Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption (CVAA).
An in-built low-noise membrane pump draws the air sample
via a liquid scrubber (to remove any moisture, dust and etc) and
dehumidified the gas stream before exposing it under UV 253.7nm generated
from a low-pressure long-life mercury discharge lamp. The absorbed mercury
amount is continuously quantified and display directly on the LED display.
The dehumidified condensate is periodically drained automatically, keep
maintenance to a minimum. EM-4 has sensitivity down to 0.001mg/m3.
EM-4 is equipped with both analog (0 - 1V or 4 - 20mA)
and digital data (RS-232C), allowing data transfer and logging (or
recording) at your preference. High-Alarm setting feature (primary &
secondary) allows setting of user safety threshold level for mercury
detection in ambient air at their convenience. |
