The AM-2 mercury gas monitor can be used to solve a
number of mercury related environmental problems such as environmental
assessments, pollution source tracing, etc. It is versatile enough so it can
also be installed for industrial product quality control or geo-chemical gas
analysis and disaster prediction. The AM-2 datalogging capacity and computer
linking ability allows for unmanned operation in the field. |
| Meeting these demands requires a technique that can
quantify the amount of mercury over a wide dynamic range. The
gold-amalgam method replaces conventional measuring techniques, including
the solution absorption method and activated carbon absorption method. The
gold-amalgam method provides increased sensitivity, accuracy, reliability,
decreased measurement time, at a lower cost. The gold-amalgam is heated and
the vaporized mercury is quantified by using the cold vapor atomic
absorption analysis method at the wavelength of 253.7 nm. |
